Quadroon. Quite a few in New Orleans. NOLA had a couple quadroon mayors (the Morials) and a couple octaroon mayors (the Landrieus). They are not above playing the race card if and when it serves their agenda.

Among blacks, class consciousness based on skin tone is a powerful social force to this day.
I assume that Mary Landrieu’s name is one of those surnames shared by blacks & whites alike.
