501(c) 4 status, thereby allowing donors to these groups to wrongfully claim tax deductions for their contributions.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 501(c)4 donors can't claim a tax deduction for donations. That's for 501(c)3s!!

I agree with your point. But after going to the Daily Caller’s article that the www.patriotmash.com editor alludes to in his piece, I’m a little confused. You can find the DC article at http://dailycaller.com/2013/05/17/flashback-schumer-franken-urged-irs-to-target-tea-party-in-2012/. The article continually refers to 501(c)4. Maybe something has changed in the regulations somewhere.
