Comment at sight in response to someone who asked the significance of 1913:
“The year 1913 in U.S. history was filled with central government villainy:
* 16th Amendment: Federal government authorized to collect income taxes.
* 17th Amendment: Direct election of senators, which officially made states subservient to the central government.
* The Federal Reserve System is created.
* Stainless steel is invented.
Well, that last one is OK. But we’re still reeling from the other three.”
