Daily Beast: Paul Ryan Now Pro Same-Sex Adoption
Daily Beast ^ | April 30, 2013

Posted on 04/30/2013 3:07:32 PM PDT by LonelyCon

Never mind! Paul Ryan has changed his view on adoption by same-sex partners, he told a town-hall audience in Wisconsin on Monday. In 1999, Ryan voted against gay couples, but now says he has reversed course on the issue. “I’d vote differently these days,” he said. “I do believe that if there are children who are orphans who do not have a loving person or couple, I think if a person wants to love and raise a child, they ought to be able to do that.” On same-sex marriage, he says he’s still opposed.

I was getting at the people who still refuse to accept the evidence before them. Once I thought he was at least a decent guy too. Glad we both woke up.

We dont. It will collapse no matter what we do. I understand people refuse to believe it. But simple logic dictates otherwise. History always repeats.

Lets hope what remains can be salvaged.

“But, has this been confirmed by more than the one source (USA Today)?”

ARe you referring to the poster for Guitierez/Ryan?

Yes, they went, they praised amnesty.

Disgusting. He was so casual about it.

Contrary to how my posts may appear, I do not enjoy blasting the GOP. I really don’t.

But if they want to act like liberals and worse, govern like them, then they and anyone empowering them deserves all the badmouthing they get.

I dunno Norm. He looks like a guy just reciting his lines in a play. One thing for sure, conservatives are going to need to cast a wide net for a candidate in 2016. Have you heard of Tom Cotton? US Rep from Arkansas

Nope. I’ll look him up. you are right. Better description actually. It was like reading lines. Either way, no emotion behind it.

Where I draw the line is adoption.

Where I draw the line on adoption is saying that a mother has an absolute right to refuse any prospective adoptive parents for any reason she sees fit, and a mother asking an agency to search for prospective adoptive parents on her behalf may direct that agency to apply any criteria she sees fit. Such rights overrule any "anti-discrimination" rules. There is nothing wrong with a mother discriminating against anyone whom she feels would not raise her child in a manner she would deem appropriate.

An argument that same-sex couple should not be allowed to adopt a child even if the child's mother thinks they'd do a wonderful job raising her child is apt to be far less persuasive than an argument that a mother who does not want her child to be raised by a same-sex couple should have an absolute right to refuse such adoption. If a mother is asked to specify whether she wishes to allow her child to be adopted by a same-sex couple and she says that she does not, the argument against allowing a same-sex couple to adopt her child is much more compelling than it would be if she had not stated her intentions. Outlawing adoptions by same-sex couples entirely would shift the decision from the mother to the government, thus weakening its moral weight.

“in which he called for three journalists, including the Times’ editor, Bill Keller, to be imprisoned for espionage.”

I love him. Seriously, he looks pretty solid. Sure has the background, though Harvard makes me leery. But that aside, we could and DO do a lot worse. I assume he has a voting record (short natch) to go with it?

We really should really be able to walk thru the next election with a Conservative third party candidate. Let the dems and dem lite split the rest of the vote. Paging Mrs. Palin and Mr. Cruz.

Neither do I Norm, I enjoy cheering one of them when they’re right...and those seem further and fewer all the time. What else are we supposed to do?? I refuse to be part of the corruption. It has to end.
