All of my family grew up around Granny, and keeping a well stocked pantry, plenty of tools, and the skillsets to use them all is second nature. All of us own firearms, all of us have useful real-world skills, ranging from spinning and weaving to building water and sewer treatment plants.

Heck, I make quilts myself.

My mother had quilting frames and ladies would come to the house and work on a quilt all day. Did you ever help granny with a quilt? You must have if you know how to quilt. My mom and I made a small quilt for my son before he was born.

I crocheted a blanket for my grandson before he was born. I crocheted a gray vest with leather inserts and leather buttons for my father in law because he had a heart attack and was always cold.

I still have my crochet needles and bunches of rolls of thread.

I have a crocheted bedspread my mom made. She worked on it when I was out on dates - took a lot of dates to crochet the whole bedspread.
