Note how the citizen component doesn’t occur for 13 years or so... long enough for this bunch to milk the system for all they can suckle, then retire to a leisurely life.

Meanwhile, the rest of us flounder in a broken country, 1/2 of which will find itself ceded to Mexico within two or three decades.

Let's not focus on voting as the central issue. It should be legalizing their status.

And let's get real about legal immigration. Every ten years we have what amounts to an amnesty. With 1.2 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS ENTERING ANNUALLY, they will be able to vote eventually and two thirds of them will vote Dem. Illegal immigration is the shiny little bauble that distracts us from the real game changer--legal immigration. The status quo will make the Dems the permanent majority party. Amnesty just hastens the process.

The ten to thirteen years to citizenship covers part of them. Others will become citizens in five years--Dreamers and certain ag workers. The reason why the path is so long is partially due to CBO scoring of the costs, which only goes out 10 years. The real costs, estimated at $2.6 trillion by the Heritage Foundation for the 2007 McCain-Kennedy amnesty, will be the entitlement programs, SS and Medicare. And those are just for the 11 million illegals already here (probably closer to 20 million) and not the millions more who will join them thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification.
