You cannot speak logic and reason to ideologues. They would rather destroy their nation than to compromise when they are wrong. Fat chance they are going to disarm law abiding citizens after what just happened in Boston. Looks like the DHS needs to do a better job of protecting people rather than to try to make them more vulnerable by taking away their means to protect themselves. And, by the way, can someone tell me when the left changed the name of an automatic rifle to an assault rifle, no doubt for political purposes.
Because they can’t stand being corrected. They’d call them “machine guns” but they know they aren’t fully automatic and every guest that’s not a liberal would always embarrass them by correcting them, and they can’t stand looking like they made a simple mistake.
But “semiautomatic” doesn’t have a lot of “jazz” to it and it’s not a scary, loaded term. so they frame the argument by language and calling it an “assault” weapon.
