See it has to do with the two most hated names in the USA - Reagan and Republican.

We know the Statists cannot handle any criticism - it hurts their feelings. So if they can get the lose of more freedoms than they will come after the individual. See collectively Conservatives are to strong and united, so the Statists have to break the will of the Strong Conservatives by hoping to end their conversations through censorship, monit and endless idiocy that will not break the Conservatives. So the get the Courts to stack the deck against the conservative. Look at Germany when Hitler rose to power, first the guy was arrested in a Beer Hall Brawl, wrote a book while in prison Mein Kampf, eventually got elected, through deceit become undisputed dictator and trashed a country. The time span 1933 - 1945, 12 years - 10 good years , the last 2 years was a living nightmare as Hitler’s dream of the 1000 year Reich was being whittled away by both the outside and inside forces.
