Appearing on CBS News' Face the Nation on April 14, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said Newtown families have told him they know the bill he and Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) have crafted would not have prevented the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary.
In other words, Manchin's expanded background check "compromise" bill, being pushed in response to Newtown, does not do anything that would have stopped the Newtown tragedy from happening.
Manchin said the families to whom he's spoken just keep urging him to do something in hopes that somewhere down the road new gun control legislation will "prevent one family from...going through what [Newtown] families went through."

This is an outrage.
To: Sir Napsalot
The "universal background check" is universal gun registration so they know where to go and what to collect when the time comes.

Manchin: Gun-toting Newtown parents would have prevented the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary.

You know it, I know it, and the Leftists know it.
Yet we still get this kabuki dance about ‘public safety’, thus my comment ‘this is an outrage’.

There are those of us who have declared ourselves sovereign individuals when it comes to all of this nonsense.
Since the Congress does not respect the constitution, I don’t respect congress and the laws they make. Since the think that they are not bound by the constitution I am not bound by the laws they think they make.

Now we get it. They support taking our constitutional rights away from us in hopes that it may just might have some impact on an event sometime in the future that might or might not happen.
Now we understand..
What kind of a BS rationalization is this?????
To: Sir Napsalot
Since murder is already illegal, I really don’t see how all the “gun control” laws in the world would ever prevent people from killing other people. Obviously, “gun control” has another purpose. I wonder what that might be. Slavery and CONTROL comes to mind right off the bat.

“...so they know where to go and what to collect when the time comes.” 16,100,000 tonnes of Cu and 4,500,000 tonnes of PB were produced worldwide in 2011. I’m sure that somewhere along the line on their rounds they will unexpectedly ‘collect’ some of both.

We have Thousands of laws. Not one of them prevented the Newton massacre, nor could they have done so.
Evil does not recognize laws.

I suspect that with the current popularity rating of congress, they would very much like to take all private guns away. They know they suck.

All Manchin-Toomey is going to do is further erode the rights of 90 million law abiding gun owners who didnt’ shoot anybody yesterday.

The 2nd Amendment a right of 300+ MILLION Americans, not just gun owners.
To: Sir Napsalot
I agree this is an outrage, but I really think it is a done deal. In fact I think not only some kind of an “assault” weapon ban, but illegal immigration reform have already been agreed on. What we are looking at is the usual Washington DC Kabuki Theater. Make it look good for the yokels back home then pass the bill through both houses, Broncho Bamma signs them and our Congress Critter claims He/She had to go along because...............
Just watch.

I am so with you on that.
Loved your phrasing by the way, "...the laws they THINK they make."
And to put it back into your context, lest someone misunderstand: "Since they think that they are not bound by the constitution I am not bound by the laws they think they make."
