but what do we keep the boxed stuff in to avoid bugs and moisture?

Vacuum sealed aluminized Mylar bags with O2 absorber(s) inside. At the very least, empty contents into a 1/2 gallon mason jar and vac seal with O2 absorber and a bay leaf inside. Cut the cooking directions off of the box and seal with contents.

I am impressed. Every so often I have had an “expert” tell me bay leaves are worthless. For decades when I did not have anything any better, I used bay leaves in my grains very successfully.
