I expect there is more to this than meets the eye.
When the prosecutor and his wife were killed, the initial reports were that there “were shell casings everywhere.”
I suspect that the prosecutor, and maybe even his wife, did not go down without a fight, and laid down their own fire, but the invaders had fully automatic weapons.
Fully automatic weapons (and soon, semi-automatic weapons) are illegal, therefore that is impossible.
