Why is the Federal government involved with paying damages on a vacation home?? Because the feds (through FEMA) run the National Flood Insurance program, through which the homeowners paid for insurance, and the homes were damaged by storm surge (flood).

Its my understanding that we are paying for homes which didn’t have flood insurance. That was part of the Sandy bailout.
