What's Moderating Fox News Want with a Right-Winger Like Tucker Carlson? (huh?)
Yahoo! News / The Atlantic Wire ^ | March 27, 2013 | Elspeth Reeve

Fox News has hired Tucker Carlson to co-host Fox & Friends Weekend, even though the two are on opposite ideological trajectories -- Fox is getting more moderate while Carlson is getting more fringe. The network has intentionally taken on a more moderate tone in recent years; this year, for example, it dumped Sarah Palin and hired Scott Brown. Megyn Kelly gently mocked Karl Rove for his insistence that Mitt Romney maybe would have beaten Barack Obama, if only he'd gotten more votes in seven states. "OLIGARHY"-fearing conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck is long gone. But Carlson, who founded the conservative blog The Daily Caller, is going in the opposite direction. He was once a libertarian dandy in a bow-tie. He was on Dancing with The Stars! He has long history (by his new standards) of cavorting with the radical left-wing as a host of shows on MSNBC, PBS, and CNN. He talked about how great his father was in public broadcasting. He convinced MSNBC to hire Rachel Maddow. He bashed his new employer Fox. Specifically, Carlson bashed one of Fox's biggest brands, Bill O'Reilly. In 2003, Carlson told Salon that sure, O'Reilly was a great communicator, "But his shtick is a really dangerous one, in my opinion."

Though Carlson was modest about his own TV talents — with good reason, as all his previous shows have been cancelled — he did not want to take lessons from the Fox host. "Of course I wouldn’t want to emulate O’Reilly. I think he’s a humorless phony." Or his show, The O'Reilly Factor: "I don’t know who would want to watch that sh*t."(continued)

She had to get a jab in at Sarah Palin, didn't she? He is mostly right about Ted Baxter, of course. Anyone here think Tucker is a fringe right-winger? Whatever that means.

According top the liberal kooks in my family anyone who doesn’t buy into the leftist way is a “fringe right-winger”. After all, Obama is very popular. /s

Calling Tucker Carlson “right wing” is like calling Lindsey Graham “straight”...

Why do the libs keep saying Mrs. Palin was dumped, fired or let go by Fix? As I understand it, Mrs. Palin and Fox parted ways when they could not come to an agreement.

Carlson is far from conservative, as is Fox News.

It’s one thing to vote however you want to vote. But liberals, family or not, always sling insults or say things they KNOW will get under your skin even if they’re in your house. For example, if they know you like Palin they’ll say “I hate Sarah Palin because she’s stupid.” Or they’ll say “Anyone who is against obamacare is an idiot knowing you are against it.” Or “Don’t be stupid all your life.” I refuse to be disrespected in my own home.

I don’t understand the fascination the media have with Tucker Carlson. How many shows has he had on how many networks? He NEVER draws an audience.

Right U R.

I have family who, when asked why they hate Palin, could only say they are bothered by her voice. They also couldn't say why they like Obama. Political infants, I call them.

They don't dare come to my home and have all unfriended me on Facebook. They then complained to others that I blocked them on FB, which is true. I block everyone who unfriends me. :-)

We both could have posted this. Sounds identical. But I have some that I haven’t blocked that say I HAVE blocked them.

Bottom line is I don’t go on FB anymore. I decided that if I’m going to spend time on a computer, I’ll come on here and maybe learn something. I don’t really care where someone went to eat and/or WHAT they had to eat, their favorite movie, etc. Nor do I want to hear their political rants that make no sense or are, for the most part, outright lies even when they know it’s lies. And I sure don’t like seeing people post profanity when they know their mothers, sisters and own children can read it. Talk about infantile. Like I said, a wast of my time.

Here’s something I find very funny. I can post something on here and people I know will read it and will think I’m posting about them. Then they’ll go to my facebook page and tell me I’m wrong. Typical liberals. They believe EVERYTHING is about them. (I only check FB when I get a message that someone has died or posts pictures from my old home town.)

The Daily Caller is rock-solid conservative, particularly on immigration. So I am thankful to the heir to the Swanson TV dinner fortune for that, at least.

Did she loan/give him the money for starting the Daily Caller or was that trust fund cash? So he's the Anderson Cooper of the center right?

What do you expect from a thing called “Elspeth Reeve”? What a gay name. : )

That would surely mess you up and turn you into a, rip down society, angry liberal.

Tucker Carlson a “right winger”???? That is funny, Elspeth.
