Two of the biggest names in sniper rifles, Barrett and ArmaLite, have already stated that they will not sell to the police departments of New York. If the NYPD is calling Serbu, we have to wonder how many other companies have told them to keep walking.

Serbu is the 137th company to halt sales to New York law enforcement according to the unofficial official New York Boycott list, which is now up to 142 companies (at the time of writing) and likely to keep growing.

Why does the NYPD need .50 Caliber Sniper Rifles? It seems like too much gun for the close quarters in NYC.

Didn't the NYPD get the memo?

Bloomberg prefers less dangerous guns.

Good for them. I hope every other gun and ammo manufacturer follows suit in every Blue State.

“Because of a stupid law the venerable NYPD won’t have the best tools for the job.”

No police department has any business considering .50 cal sniper rifles as part of their necessary equipment. I vaguely remember reading something about standing armies and such like being discussed at the founding of our country, but I must be mistaken, because the militarization of the police and vaterland sicherheitsdienst would surely violate those strictures.

I'd like to see that list, if you have it (or a link to it) handy.

*Please note: often when somebody says that, they doubt the truth of what they've read. Not so this time; I'm sure there is such a list. Might be the basis for a shopping ("buycott") list-- if I could see it. Thanks.

Good! I don’t want to see a medicated, steroid-injecting trigger-happy hyper-active JBT with a rifle that can shoot through light cover, including car doors. They’re already terrible shots with pistols, it will only get much, much worse with a rifle whose range exceeds 1000 yards.

On another note, where’s that list?
