The principal told the teacher the people were coming to talk to his class and he refused them admittance, violating the boss’ instructions. Grounds for firing in most workplaces. Whether the principal should have given those instructions is another story, but it’s Portland, and I am sadly confident the voters who elect his boss, the school board, will affirm the principal’s choice.
Let’s try an experiment. Let’s have principals all over the country tell their math classes that some pro-lifers will be in to talk to the classes. Or maybe some skinheads or Nazis. (Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was a white supremacist). Let’s see if anything happens.
Another article here indicated he had been told someone from a different organization (not PP) would speak and he was fine with that. Instead, someone from Planned Parenthood showed up and he objected.
However, if company policy demands proper ID, then he's got a case to fight back with.
Especially since the Sandy Hook incident. I know the little schools in our small community have tightened up security a LOT.
Not quite what happened. He was told folks from TOP were coming, and the people showed credentials from PP.
He had every right to kick out people with the wrong credentials.
