New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg considers the domestic use of military-style drones "scary" but says that there is no way to stop it.
Everybody wants their privacy, but I dont know how youre going to maintain it, Bloomberg said on his weekly radio show. Its just were going into a different world, uncharted, and, like it or not, what people can do, what governments can do, is different ... you cant keep the tides from coming in.
In September a Congressional Research report stated that domestic drones may be able to bypass constitutional privacy safeguards because of their high level of sophistication.
At least 81 entities, including 17 police departments, have applied for permission to fly drones in U.S. airspace.
But the mayor seems to be referring to something more omnipresent, like having drones with ARGUS technology flying 17,500 feet above the Big Apple while transmitting high resolution images of people........

They weren’t necessary before and they aren’t necessary now. We have plenty of boots & LE on the ground.
If we lived in a Constitutional Republic with a representative form of government, then sure we could stop it, but since we don't...
Thank you for admitting what many Americans already know.
Sig Heil, Herr Commandant!!!
You keep telling yourself that mr. nanny.
I seriously hope he dies soon.
It’s NYC, do you really think his replacement will be any better?
True. People will just vote in another ass.
Rudy kicked some butt, everyone hated him for it. He cleaned up the mess that was left when he took over and now bloomturd is destroying it all.
Rudy would have had a sh!tfit if he was still mayor when Air Fart one flew over NYC the way it did.
Bloomberg!
bend over people, you can’t stop “scary” government
what spine! what backbone! what leadership!
A “reasonably” equipped drone could also do a lot of good in foiling bad guys.
However, the current administration turns everything on its head. I'd never thought of myself in revolutionary terms before.
put 10 or 20 drones hovering around Bloomberg’s home then you’ll see a different story
Mayor Bloomberg confers with David Axelrod.
His replacement will likely be worse for the City, but at least not have tens of billions of dollars to try to influence national politics.
The odds there will be a mayah who isn’t a billionaire are very small. The odds that there won’t be significant billionaire backers of said ‘middle class’ mayah are even more remote.
Politicians these days are either wealthy, owned by the wealthy or blackmailed.
I wish NYC luck with this endeavor however. They’ll need it!
My thought, you must submit, there is no way to stop them. My big question, when will they arm them?
With all those tall rooftops, I would guess that those drones would be ‘vulnerable’.
[except for the fact only a few have acquired target eliminators]
Likely won’t be a billionaire, but sure, will have financial backers.
Can these drones see the difference between 16 & 18 ounce sodas?
