Carrots, Eggs, Or Coffee?
Backwoods Survival Blog ^ | 2/25/13

A young woman went to her Grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling.

Her Grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans.

She let them sit and boil without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her Granddaughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

I imagine we all “think” we know how we will react with a situation such as economic collapse. Perhaps some even have a background of prior struggles in which to make an informed opinion.

But I don’t think we really know until faced with the situation. The economic collapse I think is approaching, coupled with societal collapse because we (and in this case, I mean ‘they’ of course) have become a society of entitlement babies aren’t able to think or do for ourselves, will be unlike anything any of us have faced.

So although I can guess, prep, practice, and plan - I really don’t know. All I know for sure is I will have faith that He is in charge. And I hope I react as He instructs.

Which will you be?

I am a leaf on the wind!
Watch how I soar.

And no, this is not a Serenity reference, rather it refers to it's use by Japanese Kamikaze pilots whence it originated.

What am I in boiling water? Not eggs, carrots or coffee beans.

These days, I just another frog who thinks the water's too hot.

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water - the very circumstance that brings the adversity, the pain, the hardship – into something quite wonderful. When the water gets hot, it releases it's fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better, and change the situation around you for the better.

I agree with you. The coffee isn't what I'd want to be. The coffee turns nice clear healthy water into poo color. Sure, it smells nice at first but after a day or so of sitting around it molds and needs to be thrown out. It also becomes a crutch where you can't function without it like government gimmies. The coffee is too much like hussein with all his glorious promises and changes but it's all rotting lies that needs to be flushed. The carrot helps you see through the dark times and the egg can change to fit the situation but the more you mess with it the stronger it gets. Both are better than the coffee.
