As a military retiree, I seriously doubt that this is true. What is more likely is the continuing of a trend in promoting to the top political operators in uniform who tend to say what the president wants to hear. That is a far cry from flag officers that would order our troops to fire upon their neighbors.

I understand your point but someone who will SAY what the president wants to here has a strong tendency to DO what the president wants to do.
