16 ... I sent a letter to Wayne Brock, Chief Scout Executive calling for the immediate removal of any of these agitators. ...

It does apppear that the CSE is part of the problem. He seems to be sympatico with Stephenson and Turley.

... I honestly have no idea why their costs are so high that they require so much corporate sponsorship. My troop is fully self supporting. Each Scout pays $12 per year as does each scout leader. That’s about $35,000,000. We pay for camp, we pay for all activities,

Don't conflate BSA national expenses with local council expenses. The local councils are expected to pay their own way (except for retirement and health insurance benefits) and have different budgets from the national HQ.

National BSA has to worry about ...
1. National and regional professional scouters salaries.
2. all professional (including the local councils) retirement benefits and health insurance.
3. updating and printing all the support books/manuals
4. maintaining BSA properties - the 4 national high adventure bases and the Irving HQ.

Camp is a profit center. A few years ago, I was on staff for Cub Scout Day camp. The registration fee was $65 for 3 days (not bad) Each kid got a t-shirt ($4.00) besides that, we were allotted $5.00 for each scout for program costs. The other $56.00 went to insurance and profit.

Those are all local council expenses. Council properties include the council service center and summer camps.

Not that it’s wrong, but do we really need corporate money?

That question is being asked more and more these days by volunteers of both political persuasions. National HQ and the National Executive Board are focused on the 2013 National Jamboree this summer. Getting that site ready has been a HUGE goal.
