Cruz and Cornyn of Texas and Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma voted against the traitor.
So much for Rand Paul.

Jailing them assumes some sort of rule of law. We no longer have that. We have rule of men... and the men making the rules are the very ones who need to be jailed.
Checkmate!

For those who do not know - Egypt makes M1s under US license, currently they have around 3,000 M1A1s. We are supplying various parts like the reactive armor to already Egyptian completed chassis.
According to trials, the Israeli Merkavas beats M1s most of the time. Faster, better suspension, bigger better gun, better armor and engine placement.
As for the F16s - I don't know much there, but it is the pilot who makes it work. Given equal planes, I would be surprised if an Egyptian with their limited experience could best an Israeli pilot. Just more targets for the Israelis who have twice beaten the latest in Russian air defenses.
The politics of this sale, besides the US angle, is an attempt to keep Egypt from forming a military alliance with Iran and China.

17th AmendmentInterpretation is the key.
I claim that the 17th does indeed offer the states the OPTION of popular election of their Senate representatives. However, whomsoever a state sends to the Federal government is definitely a matter of state sovereignty. An independence-minded governor should challenge it by asking his legislature to do their job and vote for atheir Senators.
Or, how about one from the people and one from the legislature. State's right.

I disagree. Medical conditions arise; accidents occur. I would not countenance removing a legislator who is temporarily incapacitated. And neither would the law.
