I read somewhere that there are less total people in the workplace today than in 1982. Can that be accurate?

I realize that baby boomers are retiring by the millions, but by sheer population growth, shouldn't the number be MUCH higher?

If true this country is F'd, severely.

With so many baby boomers leaving the workforce, there should be a shortage of LABOR, not jobs.

I’m no economist, but this seems basic to me. The retiring bbers should have been a boost to the economy I would think.
