Walter Lippman was one of the Wilsonian progressive propagandists.
Early on Lippmann said the “bewildered herd,” his way of referring to the masses, must be governed by a specialized class whose interests reach beyond the locality.” This class is composed of experts, specialists and bureaucrats. The experts, who often are referred to as “elites,” were to be a machinery of knowledge that circumvents the primary defect of democracy, the impossible ideal of the “omnicompetent citizen”.

..in the past, we've been one of the best if not the best country in the world, civilized, with lots of scientific endeavors, with outstanding athletic production as well as inovators in the arts, agriculture, medicine, etc....
the elites if they control everything are destroying our way of life, and it will lead to more and more violence and less productivity....
how can that be good for them?...the jerks....
interesting given the increase in surveillance of citizens- drones, email reading, smart phone data, automobile black boxes Obamacare medical records, smart meters...
