This is where your old people monies go....not to “care”...but to milk the system.

I see this same abuse with my parents-in-law who are both in their 80s. Their doctors have recommended every test imaginable for them. Finally, my father-in-law said, “no more”. They were driving an hour one-way for most appointments, depleting their minimal resources and tiring them out further...
One of my great aunts was in an auto accident (not her fault incidentally, she was a passenger) that broke her hip and pelvis. She was 82 at the time. Got both completely reworked and lived, independently, until she was 97. Gardened in her own backyard and grew veggies for all her neighbors, cooked meals for ‘shut ins’ in her church that a neighbor delivered. Crocheted my kids baby blankets. Should we have just let her die with the pain pills at 82?
My own grandfather had kidney failure at 78. Six months of dialysis and his kidneys started working again. He lived, independently, until he was 90. He also gardened extensively, split his own firewood and led bible study classes. Should we have just terminated him at 78 instead?
