As a side note to the Pledge, I'm not going to stop anybody from reciting the Pledge, but please consider the following.

Not only was the Pledge authored by a socialist, but using terms like "one Nation" and "indivisible," the Pledge is arguably pro-big federal government, anti-state sovereignty progaganda.

In fact, Thomas Jefferson had made the following interesting remark about how citizens should regard the states versus the nation.

"The true theory of our Constitution is surely the wisest and best, that the States are independent as to everything within themselves, and united as to everything respecting foreign nations." --Thomas Jefferson to Gideon Granger, 1800.
