Prosecutors say Zimmerman is guilty of profiling Trayvon, of assuming he was about to commit a crime, of pursuing him and murdering him.

When is profiling a crime.

Given that Trayvon turned around and viciously assaulted him, I'd say his profiling was pretty accurate.

“When is profiling a crime”

Never. We act like it is, especially when cops do it, but then it’s impossible to do cop work without profiling of some sort. What’s illegal is what profiling supposedly leads you to do. Should a cop fir instance pull you over with no probable cause and only on the basis of having profiled you, then the pulling over would be the illegal part, not the profiling.

Possibly it is considered an aggravating factor, or something along those lines. As in it is fine on its own, but when you add it onto a crime it makes it a worse crime. Sorta like how you’re free to hate but when you kill someone you hate it’s a “hate crime.”

There is no way you can get from justifiable homicide to murder two with profiling. Even if Zimmerman only followed Martin because he hates black people, the requisite mindset for murder two is “depraved indifference to human life,” or something to that effect.
