Piers Morgan on Domestic Thermonuclear War
The American Catholic ^ | January 14, 2013 | Donald R. McClarey

Hattip to Jim Treacher. CNN talking head Piers Morgan, desperately trying to hold on to any shreds of credibility after his shellacking by Ben Shapiro, emitted this email:

America has over 5000 nuclear warheads. Quite hard to defend against a ‘tyrannical U.S. government’ with that kind of firepower.

Where to begin?

First, it is unlikely that even the most mad US President would decide to use nukes to put down a rebellion in these United States. Too many of his own supporters would be killed and the overall reaction would likely be for the rebellion to grow as a result of his action.

Second, a wide spread rebellion in the United States would likely have the sympathy of factions within the US military, if not their active support. The order to nuke Americans might lead to an active revolt by the military.

Third, in the event of a widespread rebellion, the rebels would probably quickly have nukes of their own. In the case of Obama, most ICBMs and tactical nukes are located on bases in Red states.

Morgan also indicated that it would be impossible for the US government to ever be a tyranny...

The article lists three reasons a president wouldn’t go thermonuclear to quell domestic insurrection: 1) it’d kill or alienate too many Torries, 2) the military might not follow orders, 3) insurrectionists might get their hands on some nukes, too. This leaves out the most obvious reason: you can’t tax dead people. Rendering large swaths of the country uninhabitable is bad for revenue.

Incredible - Piers must think a nuclear munition is like a rifle ... you can get one at the local WalMart, it doesn’t need any special handling instructions once you get it out of the box, and it’s really easy to operate!

This Piers Morgan is a real brain.Equating the possession of so called Assault Weapons with nuclear weapons is idiotic.

Like in case of rebellion the U.S. Government would drop nukes on its own cities.

Though in some areas of this country like Detroit,Michigan, having a nuclear detonation might be an improvement.

The astonishing thing is that each new weapon, at least before WWI, was thought to be so terrible that it would make war impossible. The machinegun, poison gas and the bomber were all expected to put an end to war. Even the some of the designers of the atomic bomb thought that it would never be used. But given the psychology of leaders like Hitler and Jim Jones (Jonestown massacre) or Sadam Hussein it is inconceivable that a leader who is losing a revolution would not use every weapon in his arsenal. Think back to the US Civil War and imagine what they would have done to prevent the other side from winning. All that is required is a sociopathic leader with access to nuclear weapons. The world abounds with them.

Morgan is dancing around an important point, and not to give him credit but there’s greater asymmetry between what an individual can keep and bear and Leviathan’s arsenal now than when amendment 2 was written. We didn’t even have a standing army for a while. Since then we’ve massacred 600,000+ of our own people, fought two crusades overseas involving millons of combatants, and mortgaged future generations hoarding weapons we may never have to use decade after decade. Nit exactly like militia against militia.

Although, as technology changes so does strategy and tactics. The NVA, Vietcong, and Middle Eastern insurgents proves the wagability of asymmetrical war.

All those weapons should have deterred people from fighting. Were politicians gentlemen, that is. We had no clue how barbarous they could be, even those primed to blame government for everything.

America has over 5000 nuclear warheads.

Wonder which one of his leftist buddies told him that. The number of functional weapons might be 1/2 that number, but I doubt even that. Obozo has openly stated he wanted a plan to reduce them to 300 and then NONE. Leftist Lying POS.

Trivia question: What's in Amarillo that would be in a foreign country if the Lone Star State were to secede?

Hint: Think Ukraine in 1991.

Idiot Piers doesn’t realize the reasoning behind posse comitatis.

The military would not be directly engaged against the US people themselves, first it would be the “federal agent” wings of the government people like the FBI, ATF, etc...

In the spirit of the 2nd the people should have access to at least the same sorta weaponry the ATF/FBI/Homeland Security have access to.

The is the principle of “synchronicity” against the police state..

Federal Government ran forces that interface DIRECTLY with the citizens are the first forces to worry about and such as the citizens should have a equivalent “counter-force” in terms of weapons to be used for protection of tyranny against them.

Since when did the FBI/BATF/Homeland Security/TSA own/use a nuclear device or the really good military hardware like aircraft carriers/fighter jets/heavy tanks/ ect... ???

If Posse Comitatis would to be turned on it’s ear then I could thoroughly justify that citizens have the right to own a H-bomb or an aircraft carrier.

Deleted any CNN sources of news at our place of business and home due their employment of domestic and foreign enemies like this Piers of shit presstitute they imported after he was fired from his old job for criminal activity .....

CNN is diversional disinformation to promote violence, hate and anarchy through seditious actions to sell the sheeple a load of volatile bullshit on a daily basis.

Don’t even pay attention to it these days..... Done with their dangerous game.

Starve the beast !..... In cnn’s case ..... Stomp on this insect .

My opinion ...

I'm sure a lot of Germans said something similar in 1933.

I agree that our current military, with combat units made up disproportionately of rural and red state whites, woudln’t follow such insane orders.

But what about down the road when demographics have shifted even more and the military has been controlled by Obama and his leftist successors for many years?

“what about down the road...”

They still wouldn’t kill the golden goose. Blowing up and/or irradiating your source of income defeats its own purpose. If there isn’t enough civilization left to steal money from, what is the point of politics?
