Ex-gang member ‘Gator’ Bradley asks aldermen for gun permit

A fast way to reduce gang activities in Chicago would be for the state of Illinois to issue injunctions against a list of known criminal gangs, punishing membership or activities on behalf of those gangs by juvenile offenders with a “one year less one day” misdemeanor sentence (contempt of court) to a rural “environmental restoration facility”. Basically making them dig with a shovel for almost a year.
This would slice off maybe 70% of gang membership, leaving only the adult gang members behind, to face a crackdown on their activities. Prison for them.
The juvenile gang-bangers would be doing hard labor from sunup to sundown, which would do a lot to burn up much of their excess energy.
An advantage of doing this as an injunction is that there would be no jury trial, just a hearing by and sentence from the issuing judge.
One of Daniel’s more cynical but spot on observations. Round and round they go in NYC!
It only pinged once tho luv ;)
I love the Sultan and I agree with a lot of this article, but I do not support “stop and frisk.” It is a violation of the 4th amendment. How about these city governments identify gang members, monitor them until they act out, and pick them up?
