I don’t understand the issue here. Would it have been better if the article wasn’t posted at all? Why do people want the poster to add a comment?

As I said, Once upon a time.
Because it was extremely irritating to go into a thread and have the thread originator play mute.
Especially when they have a pattern of never commenting on anything they post.

Goes back to ‘thread etiquette’ circa 2000 when I signed up to FR and everything was done via hand-HTML.
Posting and running is annoying and doesn’t engender discussion.
It merely says that you’ll post stuff and never say anything.
It’s also a form of forum trolling.
