Perhaps not a good analogy.
Every time victor charles popped his head up, it got blown off. Every time. The opposition was decimated, literally, to a man.
The only things that saved them were "official" ROE, and the US media.
Heck, Hanoi did not have a single missle left to shoot after line backer II, and a serious shortage of swinging richards old enough to hold a rifle.
I would not hold it as a fact that any loyalists, and the media especially, would be restrained similar to the fighting forces were during that fight.
I have my reservations...Let me clarify, I did no tmean the Vietnamese forces as a whole...
The regular NVA forces were, from what I recall reading and hearing about were fairly reasonable to detect, engage and defeat on a conventional level...They of course were not pushovers either, we were fighting them on their own turf...
The VC, you would probably agree are a different story...Very unconventional, hard to detect, and deal with, other than in a reactionary sense...
But, in the context of this thread, I believe “we” wil not see a foriegn force come in to quell our dissagreement with those that oppose us...But I am sure some here would argue that just because it fits a kind of mindset that I would consider to be a little distracted...And their opinion is important to me and others as well...I foriegn force would cause an “all in” from our side of the equation, and be similar to what the VC did to us over there, as far as the techniques, engagement tempo and other factors...
I meant more of the VC type issue in my previous post...
Again, this is just my opinion...
