Let me first say that I am a staunch supporter of the second amendment. However, this argument: that her choices are totally irrelevant when it comes to her sons own actions is without merit. I raised a military brat. Guns were had a places in our household albeit not a prominent one. My baseball card collection was far more important. It was my first glance and economic and capitalism. I worked to support this hobby vigorously (paper route, snow shoveling, lawn mowing).

To ignore the fact that a middle aged woman in Connecticut, while within her Consitutional right, decided to amass this “collection” is born out of convenience. It falls far afield the self defense justification. Further troubling is the knowledge she possessed of her sons mental illness and anti social behavior. She took her rights too far and passed on her affinity for guns to someone ill equipped to discern responsible handling. That is without question.

We cannot expect these facts to be ignored by anti gun advocates and the medias predilection for exploiting such tradgedies to further an agenda. The facts are undeniable. Whether it is preppers, goth “lifestylers”, or even the Amish, they share some common denominators not least is an aversion to mainstream society ( in some ways understandable) and take this too far in some instances. Additionally, they are increasingly allowing themselves to be labeled by participating in these ridiculous reality TV shows. Amish Mafia...give me a break already! These representatives of alternative lifestyles are allowing themselves to be portrayed as extremist. Contrast with Survivorman etc.

While ia agree that people should be protected and that includes all of the Constitution and its amendments, it comes with personal responsibility. If you choose to alienate your self from society, then don’t be surprised with the resulting brouhaha.

Lastly, it is blessed are the cheese makers. And it is not to be taken literally, but refers to any manufacturer of dairy products!

Seriously, noob, no one has amassed the information necessary to make these assertions. The "facts" of this story are constantly changing. All we know is what the media tells us, and that story has been changing hourly since Friday morning. And it has become obvious that there is an agenda to be supported by the media.

Also,what is a "self-defense justification", exactly?
