I know Boehner is catching a lot hell arond here. And I too am of the school of thought that no deal is better than a bad deal, that no legislation is better than bad legislation.

All that said however, Boehner was dealt a bad hand. First of all the STRUCTURE of the GWB taxcuts——the should have been made permanent, not temporary to expire within a decade. If Boehner does absolutely NOTHING (which is what many want) the GWB tax cuts will expire ANYWAY.

Obama, therefore is holding three aces: The temporary GWB taxcuts are expiring, the Dem controlled Senate, and his own re-election victory.

Mitt Romney promised not only not raise tax rates, but he also proposed a dramatic across the board reduction in tax rates which would have dramatically increased economic growth and tax revenue to the Treasury.

But the voters have spoken (although I don’t rule out massive voter fraud especially in our inner city urban areas). When Democrats win, taxes and spending must necessarily go up because that is what that Party is all about. Boehner is stuck in the crappy position of playing defense and trying to protect as much of the GWB tax rates that he can. It is not an enviable position to be in.

I agree but the only way we are to get tax cuts is by going over “the cliff”. The next spending increase is coming: debt ceiling.

Talk is cheap.

The real question is whether they’ll vote for or against Boner when the time comes.

I suspect enough members of the ‘Tea Party’ caucus will be allowed to vote against Boehner to ‘save face’ with their constituents, but somehow he will find JUST ENOUGH votes to prevail, and to maintain the ‘status quo’...I’m sure they are working on this right now...

Paul Broun from GA is really great. We are going to be moving into his district soon. Aso we have Tom Graves from Gainesville who is really conservative.
