Gun Control: If the girlfriend of the football linebacker killed in a murder-suicide had a gun to defend herself, she might be alive today to explain how guns save lives and more of them means less crime.
Let us start with the proposition that Jovan Belcher, the 6-foot-2-inch, 228-pound Kansas City Chiefs linebacker, did not need his legally obtained and registered gun to kill his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins.
He could have used his bare hands to dispatch his partner, or even, say, a knife, as was used in another murder case involving a famous football player that NBC Sports announcer Bob Costas might be familiar with. Just ask Nicole Brown Simpson.
Yet there was Costas using his "Sunday Night Football" forum to exploit the tragedy of their deaths to editorialize on the need for gun control. With "God Bless America" playing in the background, Costas took advantage of his captive halftime audience and repeated the unknowable claim of Kansas City-based writer Jason Whitlock that if "Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."
Belcher, a player in a sport known for head injuries, concussions and brain trauma, didn't need a gun to kill his girlfriend or himself afterward. If he didn't have a gun, he could have killed her anyway and ended his own life by any number of means. It added drama to kill himself in front of his coach, but the gun did not cause the crime.

Is there a registration requirement in Missouri about which I am unaware? Why do news outlets insist on propagating the lie that you have to register firearms with anyone, let alone the State?
They don’t want to take your guns away, they just want you to register them. That way, when they decide that they really DO want to take your guns away after all, it’s easier to find them.
“Why do news outlets insist on propagating the lie that you have to register firearms with anyone, let alone the State? “
because they are trying to normalize the idea that firearms should be registered. So we evil firearm owners are the bad guys when we resist future registration efforts.
Can’t tell you how many people I’ve met at gun shops who are visibly shocked to learn that there are no registration requirements for a firearm purchase. I’ve heard it more times than I can count, “So where’s the registration form?”
The problem is Belcher, and many men like him, probably should’ve been locked up and the key thrown away long ago. But the violent are not taken out of society permanantly when they are young. they are given a free pass, not once but many times. Even when something bad happens, the violent criminals are given a pass and they are back walking the streets. Their violent behavior and criminal actions only escalate and get worse, not better.
The second problem is women like his girlfriend. they hook up with men they damn well know to be violent and have long recorded history of being violent/posessive/entitled freaks and instead of running in the other direction at the first red flag, they REPRODUCE with these men. This is a permanant tie with no escape. then again, if it wasn’t her, it would’ve been some other people who would’ve died at the hands of Belcher.
Every anti-gun rant I hear is countered with this...Guns kill? HANDS kill. ANYTHING in the hands of someone angry and evil enough to want to kill another human being can kill. Sticks, bricks, glass, knives, rope, frying pans etc. A ROOMFUL of guns has never-and can never- kill anyone UNLESS and UNTIL a HUMAN with the desire to kill uses them!
This woman took up with a cheating thug(rich and famous football player) thug with a bad temper. It is the ultimate in refusing to accept responsibility for ones actions to blame a tool for what you do. Inanimate objects are INANIMATE. A gun can be used to protect life or take it-its in the MOTIVE of the user.
If human beings are put in an empty room-and there is hate and the desire to harm- there will be violence, injury and death.
By the ‘gun is the murderer’ argument- shouldn’t every crime not committed by gun therefore be excused? The mother who strangles/drowns her babies should not be prosecuted-there was no weapon, and the human isn’t responsible without one. Is that where we’re going?
Murder starts in the human mind-it ends in the hands. The weapon is irrelevant.
BOB COSTA = Total liberal ignorant IDIOT!!!
I find myself torn between letting people know that I am a responsible firearms owner, and not wanting anyone to know anything at all.
I tend to come down on the side of the "First rule of Fight Club" Don't talk about owning firearms. Because some may want to steal them, and others may want to seize them.
