It doesn’t have to be that complicated. The Republican “brand” should be “low taxes”. Just declare, “If you vote for us, you’re voting against any increase in taxes, on anyone. If you want more taxes, vote for the other guy”. As long as enough people still vote R such that they have the Constitutional ability to prevent a tax increase, then they should by all means do so. There’s nothing left to talk about. If the people don’t like it, then they can vote them out in the next election.

True. But those aren’t the ideas we want to promote. That’s why we need to help change some attitudes.
