It is hard to know what is right for the GOP to do. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. And, it is the GOP’s fault. They have played softball for too long and fallen into the Obama/dem’s trap.

If the Bush tax cuts for the middle class expire then the GOP will get the blame. The Tax cut’s will be renewed but then will be known as the Obama tax cuts for the middle class and he will get the credit and they could lose seats in 2014.

Obama is pushing the division of this country and shamelessly campaigning for his agenda and the 51% are eating it up.

I could be wrong and time will tell.

I am of the mind that since all spending has to originate in the House the republicans should just put their plan in writing, pass the bill through the House and make the Dems vote it down. Then they can go out and show America that they are putting forth the effort, attempted to pass a bill that kept taxes low for all Americans. It also gives them something concrete to bargin from and sell to the people. The Republicans are being far too passive in this whole process, they continue to react and even encourage the Dems to make the first move. To win anything they have to get the Dems to start reacting to them!

Have you ever seen a 2000lb. bull tied to a donkey by the bullring? Serious question. The bull is the mindset of the American people. The ring is the media and we all know who the donkey is.
