It is never too early to think ahead about the Presidential Election of 2016, and as pundits start debating and arguing about potential candidacies for President, it turns out that several states could witness a battle for the nomination among their own office holders, as witness the following:
New YorkSecretary of State Hillary Clinton, Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Senator Kirsten Gillibrandall Democrats
FloridaFormer Governor Jeb Bush, Governor Rick Scott, and Senator Marco Rubioall Republicans.
VirginiaGovernor Bob McDonnell, Republican, and Senator Mark Warner, Democrat.
MassachusettsGovernor Deval Patrick and Senator Elizabeth Warrenboth Democrats.
New JerseyGovernor Chris Christie, Republican, and Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Democrat,
WisconsinGovernor Scott Walker and Congressman Paul Ryanboth Republicans.
TexasGovernor Rick Perry and Senator Ted Cruzboth Republicans, and Julian Castro Mayor of San Antonio, Democrat
The question is whether if Hillary Clinton ran for President, would Governor Cuomo or Senator Gillibrand challenge her? But also, if Governor Cuomo ran for President, in the absence of Clinton, would Senator Gillibrand also contend?
Also, if former Governor Jeb Bush ran, would Governor Scott or Senator Rubio do the same? Or it could be put another waywould Jeb Bush run if Senator Rubio announced for President, since he has already taken the first step toward running by visiting Iowa, the first caucus state in 2016?
Also, if either Governor Patrick or Senator Warren ran, would the other run?
Also, if either Governor Perry or Senator Cruz ran, would the other enter the race?
And if either Governor Walker or Congressman Ryan announced, would the other run?
The Virginia, New Jersey and Texas cases, with office holders of both parties possible nominees, is more likely to occur, although the odds of Cory Booker or Julian Castro running in New Jersey and Texas likely will be based on Booker defeating Chris Christie in next years gubernatorial race, and Castro running for statewide office and winning, such as for Governor or Senator in 2014.
The Virginia rivalry between Republican Governor Bob McDonnell and Democratic former Governor and now Senator Mark Warner is a more likely reality.
There certainly are a lot of possibilities emerging, with the political junkies having a feast of speculation!

Enough recycling already. We need some new material.
Overriding those changes, though, is a thinning of pragmatic, centrist veterans in both parties. Among those leaving are some of the Senate's most pragmatic lawmakers, nearly half the House's centrist Blue Dog Democrats and several moderate House Republicans.
That could leave the parties more polarized even as President Barack Obama and congressional leaders talk up the cooperation needed to tackle complex, vexing problems such as curbing deficits, revamping tax laws and culling savings from Medicare and other costly, popular programs.
"This movement away from the center, at a time when issues have to be resolved from the middle, makes it much more difficult to find solutions to major problems," said William Hoagland, senior vice president of the Bipartisan Policy Center, a private group advocating compromise........."
Ted Cruz.
Scott Walker.
Both of these men can clearly express conservatism.
i suppose an electorate ignorant and stupid enought to re-elect obama would be stupid enough to elect Gillibrand or Warren.
We need a wildcard from the pop culture in 2016. Dennis Miller, please pick up the red courtesy phone...
Yes — that image should be seared into our brains.
I was going to say the writer must be joking but no,it is just scary.
Funny a whole bunch of potential candidates, yet not one word about Sarah Palin.
Hmm.
We would honestly all be better off if we voted in the democratic primary next time. Hillary Clinton will be unbeatable as would another black candidate. We need to ensure the democrats nominate Biden or someone like Andrew Cuomo. If the last two elections proved anything, it proved that Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are essentially unwinnable if the blacks turnout.
Because the chances of Iran handing over its sovereignty to Israel are better than the chances of Sarah Palin being a viable candidate.
Right.
OK. :D
My mind is made up, I’m going with Paul Ryan and if he doesn’t get the nomination, I’m voting “third party”.
Hi CGG!
My mind needs to see how things progress in the next month and after that, who has retained their conservative chops.
I hope you know I was being sarcastic but frankly, at this point, I couldn’t care less about the whole thing. I do not have good feelings about our country.
I hear you.
