From a blog comment on a Drudge link:

Congratulations to the Democrats and Young People! You now own it and you can't blame Bush.

The next terrorist attack, you own it.

Can't get a job after graduation, you own it.

Sky rocketing energy prices due to Obama's EPA shutting down the energy producing states, you own it.

A nuclear Iran, you own it.

Bowing to Russia, you own it.

Another severe recession, you own it.

A volatile border with Mexico, you own it.

Trouble getting good health care, you own it.

Higher health insurance costs and health care costs, you own it.

No budget, you own it.

Our allies mistrust, you own it.

Another trillion of debt, you own it.

More Benghazi situations, you own it.

No one willing to join the military, you own it.

Trouble getting a loan to buy a home, you own it.

More dependency on food stamps, you own it.

Trouble finding good employment, you own it.

Several part time jobs instead of a good job, you own it.

A World Government, you own it.

The UN governing the United States instead of ourselves, you own it.

A Senate that will not bring any legislation to the table even if it is "Dead on Arrival", you own it.

China controlling our world trade trampling all over us, you own it.

Loss of our freedoms as we have known it in the past, you own it.

A dictatorship instead of a democracy that follows the Constitution, you own it.

Less take home pay and higher living costs, you own it.

Driving a car that looks like a toy, you own it.

More government corruption and lies, you own it.

More toleration of extreme and fanatical Islamists, you own it.

Terrorist attacks called work place incidents, you own it.

Your revenge instead of love of country, you own it.

President George Bush is out of it now, and there is not another good man for you to vilify and lie about.

In a way I am relieved that another good man will not be blamed when it was impossible to clean up this mess you voted for.

Have a good day. God bless the United States! God is our hope now.

Ha ha! Anything that happens will still be Bush's fault, or maybe Boehner's. Poor Obama is trying so hard, but how can he be expected to fix the huge mess these two villains have left for him without any "bipartisanship" from Congress?

Socialism's failures are never Socialism's fault.

I think most conservatives have understood that for some time now. That reality hit me even before King Baraq was first crowned.

Do you think BOzo & Co. could have moved us along like they have if there was legitimate opposition? Check out the votes for stuff like the NDAA and NDRP. And how about the Kabuki theatre concerning the debt ceiling? As for W or Daddy W, they’re globalists too, it’s just that some of their hollow rhetoric was tailored to appeal to those on the right. . .sometimes. That said BOzo & Co. do represent a pedal to the metal approach to our demise.

If you look at the historical record, the Democrats own almost every recent bad thing that has happened to this country. Being gutless, they never take responsibility for their actions, and it will be no different in the next few years. They will twist the facts and try to blame Republicans. This will work only if we let them.

I hear there was real weeping in the Dem camp on the night they 'won'. That indicated to me that they were stressed beyond belief about the outcome.

What you’re forgetting is that being a Democrat means never owning up to one’s mistakes. It’s always somebody elses fault if things go bad. When things go wrong, Dems have a tremendous capacity for looking in the mirror, and seeing someone else staring back at them.

Let’s face the facts on Bush. He does deserve considerable blame for the mess we are in but not necessarily for the reasons given by the Democrats.

1) He inherited a balanced budget from Clinton and then proceeded to double the deficit accumulated since the founding of the Republic.
2) Like LBJ he tried to have both guns and butter the nation could not afford. He fought two wars overseas plus greatly expanded federal social spending (education and Medicare prescription drugs). He had no plan to fund these huge increases in spending.
3) He failed to use his veto power to reign in both the freespending Republican Congress and later a freespending Democrat Congress. If he had been serious, he’d have used the veto.
4) Other than giving a couple of speeches no one heard about Fannie and Freddie, he did nothing to reign them in. Why didn’t he use the bully pulpit, criss crossing the country the way Obama does on taxing the rich, if he truly thought it was a problem? Why didn’t he ask Congress to defund Fannie and Freddie or privatize them? The truth is the Bush Treasury department was run by Wall Street insiders and let Wall Street run wild.
5) Despite his role as leader of the nation, he went AWOL during the financial crisis of 2008 allowing former Goldman Sachs CEO Henry Paulson, Ben Bernanke, and Timothy Geithner to save the big Wall Street banks on the back of the taxpayer. He was responsible for TARP.
6) He may have been the recipient of vicious and unfair attacks from the Left but he never fought back. When conservative ideals were under attack he played the role of punching bag, turning the other cheek instead of engaging a real debate about the future of the country. His credibility as a leader was lost because of his own inaction. I must conclude the self described “compassionate conservative” president was really a liberal statist because he never used the power of the office to promote conservative principles and ideals, much less push back against the growth of the socialist state.

Bush enabled the rise of Obama. He lost the respect of the American people, and his party, because he failed to articulate and fight for an alternative to the welfare state. He failed to use his veto power to preserve the balanced budget he inherited. He failed to lead the country against the onslaught of the social left and its media allies. Bush will be blamed for decades by the left because his poor leadership allowed them to define him. Had he been a strong leader like Reagan, going around the media to the people with a powerful message, his legacy would be much different.

George W. Bush failed as a leader. We conservatives need to stop apologizing for him and own up to the facts, just as the Democrats repudiated Lyndon Johnson for his failures and sent Jimmy Carter into exile for years for his failures. Until we repudiate the Bush openly as a traitor to conservatism, the Democrats will continue to wrap that boat anchor around our necks.

So wrong in so many ways. Lets start with #1....Gingrich had more to do with the balanced budget than Clinton.......your next five points are so full of errors that it would take a book to correct them. Bush had nothing to do with the “rise of Obama.” There is nothing Bush could have done in his second term, the media ate him alive everyday, EVERDAY, no matter what be did. There was a hurricane he had nothing to do with, waterboarding and Gitmo were the daily talking points. If you are still confused, ask yourself this, when was the last time you heard the daily body count from Afghanistan since Obama has been in office? Incidentally, the Democrats wrap an anchor around our necks regardless of who is in office with the help of uninformed people.......

Bush failures:

The cumulative deficit doubled under his watch. He couldn’t find his veto pen. After his first year he couldn’t propose a balanced budget to Congress.

The Patriot Act and TSA gave the government vast new powers to restrict individual liberty.

Massive new social spending. Unfunded Medicare prescription drug program, huge increases in education spending, billions to fight Aids in Africa.

Failure to identify the radical Islamic movement as the source of the terrorist acts of 9/11, much less a major threat to national security. Instead he called Islam, the “religion of peace”, a complete lie.

Prosecuted a war against Iraq, which had not attacked the US. After failing to find weapons of mass destruction, which demonstrated Iraq posed no threat to the homeland, he shifted the goal to converting Iraq to democracy even though there were no cultural or political traditions to support democracy in place. The Iraq adventure destroyed the Sunni counter to Shiite Iran’s expansion thereby destroying the regional balance of power and ultimately resulting in Shiite control of Iraq. Plus he applied too few resources to the invasion, needlessly killing American soldiers and almost resulting in the disaster that would have occurred without the surge his Secretary of Defense opposed. Billions of dollars and thousand of lives waisted for an even more unstable Middle East.

Appointed Ben Bernanke Federal Reserve Chairman. Bernanke’s artificially suppressed interest rate policies destroyed the savings income of millions of Americans. His money printing is destroying the value of the dollar and threatens the dollar’s status as a reserve currency.

Tried to appoint the undistinguished Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court. Did appoint John Roberts who sided with the left wing of the court to institutionalize Obamacare.

Put Goldman Sachs Chairman Hank Paulson in charge of the Treasury at a time when Goldman and other Wall Street banks were engaged in risky speculation with the money entrusted to them by depositors. When the Wall Street casino blew up in the 2008 financial crisis he let Paulson, Bernanke, and tax cheat Timothy Geithner run the show and bail out their Wall Street buddies at the expense of the taxpayer.

He and Paulson gave us TARP which became a giant $700 billion political slush fund and gift to the Wall Street banks as well as the vehicle he and Obama used to bail out the auto industry and line the pockets of the unions. It was Bush that gave the first injection of TARP money to GM, not Obama, even though the legislation did not provide for this use,

You mention the media ate him alive everyday. The same thing happened to Reagan. He went out into the country talking to the American people and selling his ideas. Reagan didn’t have Fox News, talk radio, and conservative websites supporting him yet he was able to overcome the media bias. Bush sat in the White House and on his Crawford ranch quietly instead of using the bully pulpit to take his case to the people. He did not fight and not fighting was his choice. I hate Obama’s message and agenda but give him credit for fighting and going on the road to the people, like Reagan did. Effective leaders are not passive.

It is rare any leader draws a perfect hand. Real leaders create opportunity in the face of adversity. Lincoln guided the nation through a Civil War. He was villified by the press, his political opposition, and members of his own administration more than Bush could begin to imagine. Bush just didn’t have the leadership skills and vision to rally the people behind him and he was unable to use the powers of the office effectively. He made many bad choices and the country was much worse off when he left office than it was when he entered. He failed in his assignment. Blame others if you wish but the facts are the facts.

Some leaders rise to any challenge and some don’t. Those that do leave a positive legacy. Bush left office in the middle of an economic meltdown, with the two longest wars in American history still in process against third world countries with no end in sight. The disposable income of the average American family was lower than when he took office. He added as much to the national debt as all of his predecessors combined. The dollar declined in value 41% during his time in office.

Facts are facts. Bush will go down in history as a failed leader who made very bad decisions and set the stage for the Obama message of “change” to be embraced by the electorate. If Bush had been successful, there would not have been a need for change. If Bush had been respected by the people, he would have spoken at the Republican convention and been on the campaign trail with Romney this year. It is ironic the impeached Bill Clinton is respected by the American people while George W. tries to maintain a low profile in Texas.

And yet I remember people on this forum shouting down any rational arguments that supported caution in the run up to war.
Sadly, until conservatives find some rock solid principles, besides “sticking it to liberals” I don’t think we’ll do any better as far as elections go.

IMHO politics has become too much like a team sport. It seems to be less about what’s right and more about “did my side win”

I think we traded principles for wins and now it’s biting us in the ass.

I think Pamela Gellar may have written this as it was at her site the day following the election.
It’s a great list but by no way complete. It could easily double in size with all the damage this corrupt regime is directly responsible for..
And no, they won’t own it because liberals have zero responsibility. It’ll be Bush & the Republicans fault... (I’ve actually seen them saying that as a response to this at Fox today)! lol

Yea... While President Bush didn’t do everything exactly “right”, the morons that are putting all the blame on him seem to conveniently forget that it was the demoncrats (socialists) that had controlled the house & senate since ‘07... Here in ‘Bama, the first thing they did once they were “voted” into power was to vote themselves a 62% pay increase (like they were actually “earning” what they were getting before...) The thing all these idiotic PARASITES simply do not comprehend is that when the host dies, they die... We, the ones that are actually footing the bill for all their “free stuff”, are being systematically “bled” to death by all the parasites that are standing around holding their hands out expecting someone else to pay their way through life... They will be in for a very rude awakening when they find that they are no longer “useful” to the ones they put into power (Their votes are no longer needed to capture power & they, the parasites, produce absolutely nothing useful... Well, only more parasites when they breed...) My optimism died on November 7th...
