We lost.
We the People got our teeth kicked down our throat.
I know that sounds harsh, but let's face it fellow Republicans, we're members of a party that failed to defeat a racist, dog-eating, homosexual agenda pushing piece of human garbage who isn't qualified to be a cashier at 7-11, let alone be President of the United States. We, the party of strong economies and national defense, failed as a party to dislodge an economically illiterate man who hates the US military with a passion. In short, this election was an absolute train wreck that may very well destroy the Republic.
Why did this happen, and more importantly, who do we blame ?
The Republican party, like a kid who can't sit still, refuses to learn. Moderate Republicanism and RINOs suck. They're about as exciting as lukewarm bath water. They stand for absolutely nothing. And yet, time and time again, ever since Reagan, they're all the Republican party offers on the presidential stage. Bob Dole ran a tepid, lackluster campaign in 1996 that ended in defeat, as did John McCain in 2008, and Mitt Romney in 2012. Yes Bush I and II won, but let's face the cold hard reality about them. Bush I shed his Reaganite skin like a rattlesnake the moment Ronaldus Magnus went back to his ranch and proceeded to lose to accused rapist Bill Caligula. Bush II won and was magnificent on the War on Terror, but was Herbert Hoover on domestic policy.
To this day, I still have no idea what any of the above folks ran on. (Except for the 2004 election, when it was rather clear it was either Bush or pray to Mecca.) Bush I ? He was Reagan's Veep. Bob Dole ? No idea. Bush II's first run ? I dunno, I voted for Pat Buchanan because it wasn't Conservative, whatever it was. John McCain ? Well, it was his turn. Romney ? He wasn't the guy who bowed to the inbred king of Saudi Arabia. They never gave me a real reason to support them, other than party loyalty. That's a horrid reason to vote for anyone. What's worse, they never gave libertarians, paleocons, Reagan Democrats, or independents a reason to vote for them, either. And hence, they lost (except for Bush II) and in some cases, in a rather embarrassing fashion.
Ladies and gentlemen, the reality of the situation is this: We the People need to take back the Republican party before we do anything else. We need to take over our local Republican parties and send the RINOs packing. Is it easier said than done ? Yep, but what choice do we have ? A third party won't save the day. Working with the communists in the Democrat party is unthinkable for a variety of obvious reasons. We need to stand up and say, "Dont Tread On Me."
Ping....sad, putrid ping....
:(
Sorry, but if us RINOs leave then we take 70% of the money and funding with us, so you think the tea party faction can run the entire Republican Party? If anything it was the tea party faction (the fringe) that caused some of our losses in this past election and even lost in this election (ala Walsh, West, Murdouck, etc). We are a divided party right now- so you want to unite or fight among ourselves? We fight then we’re screwed for years to come. However BS articles like this where you want to attack us within the party is just fine - we’ve held the power long enough with you and without you. Remember, Eisenhower, Reagan and Bush Sr and Jr were not tea partiers - all were centrist conservatives who compromised within reason.
We have to find a way to stop the Democrats from crossing over and voting in the Republican primaries. I know it’s legal for them to do it, but it violates the spirit of having the primaries. They have been selecting both candidates.
Feel free to flay me alive for my Pat Buchanan vote in 2000. I was young, stupid, and had no idea what I was doing. I do not now, nor will I ever again, support paleo-nonsense.
I can tell you exactly who to blame:
Go to a crowded mall, stop, and look around you.
Blame them.
Bush 1 lost because of a third party candidate.
So that is what we want now isn’t it, another Ross Perot to make sure the Democrats stay in power.
The Democrats all hate each other but come together so that they win elections. The Latinos hate the blacks, the blacks hate the Cubans etc. Republicans because all the factions want it their way or no way. Until we grow up and realize nobody is perfect we will not win elections. All the people who say they will settle for nothing less than a “TRUE” conservative just don’t get it, Ronald Reagan would not have won on Tuesday.
The Kentucky motto, “United we stand, divided we fall”, we just had a big fall.
When you don’t believe in nothing, you will believe in anything. What exactly is it that you want to compromise with them on?
Well I for one am not a millionaire. So if the millionaires have to go from 35 to 39% (Clinton era rates) and the rest of us don’t have to see our taxes rise then I for one am ok with using that as a chip to bargain with on our side. You?

Go to a crowded mall, stop, and look around you. Blame them.
Ronald Reagan was anything but a centrist.
It is the RINO Republicans who are the architects of this massive, horrendous defeat. Just as it was in ‘92, just as it was in 2008, and just as it was on Tuesday.
RINO Republicanism is clearly NOT a winner. Conservatism is. Compare Reagan’s victory to Tuesday’s disaster if you have any further questions.
I WILL NOT pander to illegal alien criminals.
I WILL NOT accept homosexual “marriage”.
I WILL NOT abandon the unborn.
I WILL NEVER accept the UN.
I WILL NEVER accept the redistribution of wealth.
I WILL NEVER accept gun control laws.
I have something that the RINOs and the hangers-on like Tokyo Rove don’t have: values. They will NEVER, ever change.
“Sorry, but if us RINOs leave then we take 70% of the money and funding with us, so you think the tea party faction can run the entire Republican Party? Romney had tons of money and absolutely blew it. You can’t buy an election with no ideas. If you want to win, you have to make a deal with the tea party. They have the ideas, you have the money and experience. Now make it work.
Agreed.
Another thing we could do is move the first primary from Iowa and in a place, like, oh I don’t know, Oklahoma. You know, a place that still values Conservatism and let the chips fall into place from there.
Good post - I agree that tea party has some good ideas (and some money). We have more money but we have some good ideas as well. Hopefully we can all come together or we’re never gonna see the White House again
The GOP would be better served if they held their first primaries in states like Utah, Oklahoma, and Wyoming, instead of Democrat states like Iowa and New Hampshire.
BS! Over the last 50 years, you RINOs compromised us to the brink of Communism. You have all the principles of an alley cat and the Marxist Rats have exploited it every time they needed to. Establishment Republicans are like a football coach with a 1-9 record. As Donald Trump would say: YOU’RE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ordered a don’t tread on me flag today...it will be flying proudly over property that has been in my family for generations. We must fight..make it the tea party GOP.
True, but it’s safe to say that a coherent Conservative message would have won a few of them over. A few attacks with some teeth would have helped as well.
What was the biggest difference between 2012, when we got our butts kicked, and 2010, when we kicked butt?
Who did the Establishment Republicans shove to the background and bury?
The Republicans fear the Tea Party. They would rather lose than let the Tea Party gain power.
I am not in favor of a third party. I’m in favor of a no holds barred Republican party that embraces Conservative values.
We need to take back OUR party and quickly.
My God given rights are not up to debate. I will not compromise.
+1, good post!
Mighty generous with other people’s money, aren’t you ?
If taxes go up on the so-called rich, what little job creation is left will ground to a screeching halt.
It’s this kind of attitude that did us in. No doubt about it.
Was was the old saying, those who don't work, don't eat?
Not anymore FRiends. We work, they eat no matter what.
God bless, FRiend! You definitely get it.
The Tea Party represents me. The GOP no longer does. It has proven to the be the backstabbing enemy of the Tea Party. So very telling, how the GOP convention even outlawed the very words “tea party” from being spoken.
I wish there were a big building somewhere which housed the entirity of the GOP-E/RINOs, because I would love to set it afire and watch it burn to the ground.
As the only big state that is reliably Republican, Texas should be the kingmaker.
“Romney had tons of money and absolutely blew it. You cant buy an election with no ideas.”
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Better than what I wrote.
You don’t win on a platform of “I suck less.”
Exactly.
The only reason we still have the House is the Tea Party, whether Boehner likes it or not.
And, not for nothing, why is he still the Speaker ?
I am really glad of one you RINOs decided to show yourself in a post.
I have a message for you. 2010 wasn’t about your politics or your money. 2010 belongs to the Tea Party and you know it.
Obama outspent the Republican Party almost 2 to 1. Now, I will admit that we have no idea where a lot of that cash came from; but, it happened and they raised more than you and outspent you.
We had GHW Bush and he gave us Clinton. We had GW Bush and he gave us Obama. I just bet you will run Jeb Bush and only God knows what that will bring. But, Jeb is a contingency plan and that brings me to my message.
You Rinos try to move the Republican Party to the left and all the money in the treasury will not save you as a Party.
We have all watched your version of Compassionate Conservatism or whatever goofy crap you can come up with to explain your power base and lack of Leadership.
Don’t go there. Because, if you do, this is one Conservative....and yes, I am a Conservative, that will leave this Party and work openly against you and your leftist twins the Democrats.
I have worn the Republican moniker for a lot of years and I have worked countless hours to get Republican Candidates into Office. I have Raised a few dollars and made a lot of calls.
But, some of the hardest working individuals I have ever met were Tea Party folks that came in and helped us vote in Conservative Republicans. God Bless them.
Good to know. You had me worried.
Great idea! That’s why Free Republic is valuable.
Great idea! It needs to be repeated. Put that idea on a lot of different threads so it gets noticed. Repetition puts it into people’s minds.
We can still win the 2014 midterms. Just as he failed before, Obama will fail again. If we can take the Senate with a large enough majority, we can override vetoes.
It can be done. Despite Romney’s Sit-Down-When-He-Pees campaign, it was fairly close. Two more years of this garbage economy will send them running back to our side, just like in 2010.
We just have to be prepared, and that starts with kicking RINO tail, starting right now.
:)
FUN FACT: Obama Lost in Every State with a Voter Photo-ID Law
Military Absentee Ballots Delivered One Day Late, Would Have Swung Election For Romney
I thought we covered that in 2008.
I was wrong.
“Despite Romney’s sit down when you pee campaign”.....best description of the campaign I have seen. Lol!
An explanation is in order.
My parents were old school, leftist Democrat secular Jews. They hated Buchanan with a passion, so it was an obvious choice for me as a rebellious, obnoxious kid who was incapable for using his head for more than a hat rack. I was touched in the head to say the least. I couldn’t be any more ashamed of this if I tried. But I can’t be holier than thou and not admit my own mistakes. That would be intellectually dishonest.
Don’t worry: I still love my parents. You only get two per lifetime.
:)
1. They ran the wrong guy—should have run Newt.
2. Christie should have been nice but not giving a photo opt for Obama to make Sandy a political commercial.
3. Don’t pick on fictional characters —Dan Quail vs Murphy Brown. Mitt Romney vs. Big Bird.
4. Don’t be nice—their are no nice guys in the fox holes of Bataan! Its like war out there! Your for us or agin’ us!
5. Why not run a war hero? A Hollywood movie star? A talk show host? A comedian? —not a technocrat—cold fish.
6. Drop the suit and tie—and the $1,000 suites . Go with common clothes!
7. No more Moderates! Stick to your beliefs! Next time TRY the TEA PARTY! and not for VP picks. Lets go with a Conservative for a change!
:)
(I'm writing that one down; and may commit digital theft thereof...hey...least I'm an 'honest thief')
Cool links. I’ll dig into them ASAP.
Exactly.
Hmmm, let's reverse roles for a moment on this one.
Whenever, the social-issues "base" of the party has threatened to pull out, we've heard the RINO reminder: "Where are you going to go? The Democrats?"
So...perhaps it's time for the social-issues conservatives and the tea party to unite as a solid coalition and ask the RINOs: "Where are you going to go? The Democrats? The Libertarians? The Green Party?"
We'll let you stay as trench foot soldiers & be the ones expected to eventually compromise your principles, whatever's left of them that is, for a change...
Hey, no worries . . . I used to be a John Bircher.
That is not true. The party does stand for a couple things. Not those that you'd expect it to stand for, though. Both parties stand for one thing: for power, for control of the country. Not for much else.
And yet, time and time again, ever since Reagan, they're all the Republican party offers on the presidential stage.
They offer "their men." If they win - good. If not then it's still OK. The party still gets seats in Congress and can do things. When you have only two parties, and when those two parties only struggle for the *exact* division of the pie between them, then we have this problem. The party lost because it didn't really want to win. It didn't have to.
To this day, I still have no idea what any of the above folks ran on.
They ran on something that does not go against the interests of both parties. Ron Paul made some waves, where is he? Herman Cain made some small waves, where is he? A "radical" candidate cannot be nominated. The secret is simple: only the candidate who nobody cares about is going to be nominated. Who took Herman Cain out? Was it D, or was it R?
We the People need to take back the Republican party before we do anything else.
It's minimally possible. The party does not belong to the members of the party. It belongs to the functionaries of the party. It's their plaything.
There is a deeper problem, though. Regardless of the party, the popular vote is still for Obama. It means that people of this country want Obama's money. He just bought them. If the party suddenly comes to its senses and nominates a great candidate (say, Sarah Palin) the end result will be exactly the same: 51% of the country will vote for free money. Why shouldn't they? Especially if Sarah immediately announces that her government will make people work! Imagine that audacity, make them WORK! They don't need your WORK, they are doing fine living on Obama's money, thank you very much. Obama voters will stop voting for Obama only when they will be better off with someone else. But Obama opened the spigot of national debt and offered the proceeds to the people. How can you outdo this? Especially when a responsible leader will call for tightening of the belt, for working harder, for making products - not for printing money as if there is no tomorrow.
So there are two problems: first, existing R's are no good, and second, people don't want R's of any sort anyway. You have to solve both problems at the same time, otherwise Sarah will lose to a newcomer who promises to open Fort Knox to the rabble. (I guess that would be perfectly safe, though, since there is nothing inside.)
I personally suspect that there are only the following solutions. One is in political separation; another is letting the illness take its course. Eventually the government runs out of other people's money - and then the same rabble that elected it will happily burn it down. That always happens when you pander to the crowd.
Interestingly enough, the same problem - incompatible view on life - is seen in marriages. Divorces are legal, and that's the most popular solution. But a divorce on the scale of the USA is practically impossible. The conservatives are just a minority, on par with Indians or immigrants. Why would anyone care what the minority wants? In other words, I think it can't get better until it gets worse - much worse. If you look at USSR, they were never a healthy society. But it took the system almost a century to rot and die. The new system, somewhat more sane, was able to rise only on the rubble of the old one.
1. Yep. Voted for him in the primary. I would have been more than happy with Santorum or Bachmann as well.
2. Krispy Kreme is a disaster and his keynote speech sucked. Scott Walker or Allen West would have been a knock out punch.
3. I’d rather we pick on real people like Nazi Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, etc.
4. Nice guys finish last for a reason.
5. Agreed wholeheartedly.
6. Agreed wholeheartedly again.
7. You’re on a roll.
It is what it is, FRiend. It is what it is.
LOL!
If you think raising Taxes is about fairness, you are way off the mark. The only Fair Tax is a Flat Tax since income is gained from labor. The larger percentage you pay, the more you are an economic slave to the Government.
Why stop at taking 39% from the Evil Rich? Make it 100%, but it doesn't mean you will get any of it.
