But here in the FWIW category, part of my vote was defending my Catholic bretheren against Obama’s deliberate attacks. A sickening number of his attacks were aimed straight straight at catholicism.

No, the attacks, while seemingly directed at Catholics, were really directed at all people of faith. Democrats don’t believe in God-given rights of man or inherent rights of Man because most of them don’t really believe in God, as proven by the attempt to eliminate the words, “God-given” (talents) from the Democrat platform.
Without God-given rights, the State is supreme, free to grant or take away rights as it chooses.
