From childhood. Not easy, but we are parting ways slowly.
These people frighten me as far as how ignorant and uninformed they are.
Agreed. I have relatives like that. You try to engage in a reasoned dialog and they simply parrot their pet phrases to annoy you...with a stupid grin on their faces.
"Why do you need a gun?
"Bush lied and people died."
"There were no weapons of mass destruction."
"Republicans are such racists."
I simply avoid political discussions in their presence. It's healthier that way. For them.
