Yes this trial balloon about nobody being in the area, ready, within seven hours.... Is laughable.
Here is a larger dilemma. On one hand we had a President who feared no branch of government when he sent our troops to Libya just a year ago. On the other, we have a President who would not call in extra support to assist Americans requesting military support. There is no way this is anything but a HUGE cover-up. If Obama wanted our Ambassador out, he would have made it out.
