We have to further cripple the economy by raising taxes even higher, we are told, because significantly reducing government expenditures is not feasible. Meanwhile, bureaucrats recently wasted $700,000 on a musical about the nonexistent global warming farce:
The Civilians, the New York-based theatre company known for projects investigating real-life topics – including the upcoming IN THE FOOTPRINT about the controversy surrounding the development of the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn – has been awarded a three-year grant in the amount of $700,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for THE GREAT IMMENSITY, a new production about climate change, it has been announced by Steve Cosson, founding Artistic Director of The Civilians.
You would think they could not possibly be serious — and yet:
The Civilians has been celebrated for its endlessly inventive and entertaining spin on the most pressing issues of our time. The company now brings its provocative and groundbreaking approach to storytelling to the Rep for the world premiere of The Great Immensity, an original musical that is part mystery and part morality tale. Woven into the story about two sisters’ global journey are authentic interviews with top scientists, indigenous community leaders and those who have been touched by the reality [sic] of climate change, deforestation and endangered ecosystems.
The real reality of 23 million Americans unemployed or underemployed while bloated Big Government hamstrings the economy in the name of radical environmentalism isn’t singing and dancing material.
