I think it supports the notion that when one group has the upper hand over another group, then they will abuse that group unless they live in a society that cherishes the rule of law.
Because of historical developments, Christians have long had the upper hand position and therefore have had much more opportunity to be intolerant. And they have definitely taken advantage of that opportunity.
I do not believe that one group - given the power of life and death over the other group - would necessarily act more virtuously than its counterpart.
Human nature applies to all humans.
Hard to argue with that!
But the history is that Jews have had little power to persecute massmurder or ghetto-ize Christians over the last two thousand years. There is scant support for the notion that Christians have been more tolerant of Jews than Jews have been of Christians.
I don’t like the word tolerance anyway. I respect a Jewish person’s religious liberty, I don’t tolerate it.
