Maybe a study of the effects of burglers on people’s lives would be appropriate. Bet they’d find that people benefit from having their possessions stolen by either downsizing their house contents leaving more room or that they benefit by having lots of newer stuff.

Of course, bargaining power will always be proportional to jobs available ÷ workers available. The left keeps trying, but they just can’t repeal the law of supply and demand.
