You can also get a ton of other stuff there to to get setup....antennas, frequency counters, etc.
If you can find one, the Cherokee CBS-1000 can easily be converted to receive and transmit on 400 frequencies above and below standard CB frequencies. May be hard to find these days though.
As for education material...do a web search for the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League) website. From there you can find tons of info. You'll be a pro in no time.
