Sawing the Branch On Which We Sit

The most significant moment of the 2008 election cycle was the interview of Joe Biden by little-known reporter, Barbara West. The exchange took place following the “Joe the Plumber” incident, the now historic Obama photo-op-gone-wrong during which Sam Wurzelbacher was told by candidate Obama that we in America should “spread the wealth around.”

West asked Joe Biden:

“You may recognize this famous quote, ‘From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.’ That’s from Karl Marx. How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he wants to spread the wealth around?”

Vice-Presidential candidate Biden asked if the question was a joke, then stated that he and Obama were not Marxists because they would actually stop spreading the wealth. They would put an end to tax cuts for rich people.

Those of us who read Dreams From My Father and lived to tell of it knew Biden’s denial to be at variance with objective reality. The past three years have provided ample evidence that the future Vice-President was balefully misinformed about the Marxist leanings of his running mate.

Aristotle wrote that the prudent man or woman is one who chooses the best means to achieve a goal. The single goal of the presidential election on November 6, 2012 is to select the leader of the free world. We must choose between a man deeply inspired by Marxist ideology and a man not deeply inspired by Marxist ideology.

This choice will inexorably result in policy crafted by Marxism, or policy crafted by free-market capitalism.

For writers, radio talk-show hosts, bloggers and all who contribute to public political discourse, the implications of the reality confronting voters in November should produce a unified message; explanation of the consequences of four more years under a Marxist president or silence.

Imagine for a moment what sincere logic and an actual seeking of the common good would produce in terms of media.

“Good Morning Red-State readers, this is Eric Erickson and I would like to spend 5000 words explaining how awful Romney is. But I just remembered that Obama is a Marxist and Romney is not, so I have nothing significant to contribute to the blogosphere. Enjoy your day!”

“This is Charles Krauthammer here at Fox and I think it is time Romney got his weak economic messaging in order. But Obama is a Marxist and Romney is not, so I’m going to stop talking now and enjoy an early dinner with my other usefully mute friends. See you all on November 7th!”

“Hi, this is Allen West and I was going to point out that conservatives are being abandoned already by the moderate Romney. But I just remembered that Obama is a Marxist and Romney is not, so I am going to go see to my duties as U.S. Representative.”

Laura Ingraham would panic about Romney on a jet-ski, then remember that Obama after all is a Marxist and jet-ski Romney isn’t and she would stop talking.

The months separating us from November offer Republicans and conservatives, especially those not happy with Romney, an opportunity to benefit personally and professionally by speaking ill of the Republican nominee. They could improve ratings, curry favor with liberals, or add to credentials as “purists” for the next time round in 2014 by attacking Romney.

If they understand Marxism, if they’ve read Obama’s autobiography, if they have not been participating in a clinical trial for advanced cryogenics since 2008, they know that, whatever polite term people invent to avoid sounding McCarthyite when speaking of Obama, the man and his policies are deeply influenced by a Marxist world-view. Three years ago Barbara West asked the last question that really matters about Obama.

Once we have the answer to this question – and it is the opposite of the one Joe deigned to give the clear-thinking anchor, anything else we say or write on the matter is a silly waste of time and talent.

It's not that Obama is a Marxist and Romney is not.

It's that Obama is a marxist right now, and Romney wants to slow it down and bleed the people for a lot more money for a much longer time under ever growing Marxism before the final collapse.

That's what RINOs do. That's why they're called RINOs. You know the frog int the water that is being gradually boiled? The Marxists throw the frog in the pot. The RINOs are in charge of keeping the heat rise so gradual, it puts the frog to sleep.

Who's worse, the enemy you can see trying to kill you, or the one that pats you on the back, smiles, and tucks you in at night with a warm cup of poisoned milk?

I was standing on the sidewalk on the west side of the WH one day this April when security suddenly shut down everything.

After about a 10 minute wait, Joe Biden rolls out the driveway in an armored Suburban with two other escort cars.

A guy in a 1000 dollar suit leans over to me and says;
“If Joe didn’t have a chauffeur, I doubt he could find his way back to his house for lunch”

But I should have added, regarding this article, that IF you’re buying time, then Romney is the one to vote for.

Because with Obama, time is clearly up or America. He doesn’t even TRY to hide what he’s doing anymore. In fact, day after day he seems to be openly gloating about it.

Just not to have Obama on TV every day, taunting us, attacking people, lying about everything, is enough reason to want him out of the White House, and the only one who can do that in 2012 is Mitt Romney.

If Romney wins we'll have to keep his feet to the fire...but at least the hate and divisiveness will be coming only from the media, not from the White House.

Well, like I said, I don't think his agenda is different from Obama's, just that his implementation is slower. That's why they're rushing to pass all this crap under Obama, so Romney can smile and empathize while his administration brutally enforces it and blames it on Obama and "just following the law."

It won't change until the Tea Party gets someone elected president - and even then, they'll need a Tea Party Congress behind them.

Maybe it's because I've had a beer or two, but that little fragment of a statement is totally inside out! They will stop spreading the wealth by taking the wealth away from wealthy people?
