Anyone who was following the news, this week, had to be shocked at the immediate, smash-mouth response from the Obama White House to the Supreme Court's ruling to uphold the most important part of the Arizona immigration law. He ordered his entire administration and all the government agencies to IGNORE any immigration violations reported by Arizona law enforcement. "If Arizona calls, hang up" is basically what he told his people. At the same time he provided a toll free number for illegals to call to report any perceived profiling by Arizona authorities. And, of course, the harassment of sheriff Joe Arpio continues.
How can he do this? How can he completely ignore his own federal laws? Didn't he vow to defend the laws of this country?
What's he doing?
I think that this added to the demand that his own Justice Department no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act in federal court was another indication of a very deliberate re-election plan to excite his base which has fallen into disillusionment and apathy. To be sure, it caused conservative spontaneous head-explosions when he succeeded in brow-beating the military into admitting and accepting openly gay servicemen and when he went around the congress to install a Dream Act they had previously rejected, but those things weren't unconstitutional. Were they?
I started to think something was up when he spit on the Senate by appointing recess nominees even though the Senate was not in recess! That seemed unnecessarily aggressive. Of course the media, talking heads and late night talk show hosts will always unite behind him, provide him cover and say that everything he does is completely within his scope, but it has become obvious the Obama administration is nothing but a lawless and unconstitutional band of government criminals.
Let's add his direct attack on religious freedom, to the list, by demanding the Catholic church provide "family planning" services to employees of church supported schools and agencies. Totally unconstitutional. He can't do that. And he knows it. So what's he doing?
I believe he is publicly shredding the Constitution in an attempt to provoke the Republicans into talking impeachment. He will have succeeded if one Republican congressperson utters the word. At that point the Democrats, media and entire popular culture will come down with the fury of a Sumatran tsunami and wipe out all other discussions and issues. This will make Obama a tragic victim of the dastardly GOP and send his '08 supporters flocking to the polls to re-elect their Dear Leader.
Bill Clinton left office with high approval numbers and is worshipped today by his party because of the evil, over-reaching Republican plot to "overthrow an election". I believe David Axelrod thinks he can secure Obama's re-election by poking the elephants till they have to respond and that will seal their (and America's) doom.
Impeachment bait is being set outside the front door of the Obama White House. Be careful elephants.
Link?
Didn’t Kyl say “impeach” already?
My brain.

Gee, it would be tragic if government resources were wasted answering meaningless messages left at the phone number and email address.
I just sent a note to my Congressman on the lines of impeachment for our President!
U.S. Constitution, Article 4, Section 4:
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion;”
This was posted on an earlier thread and I thought I would share this with my Congressman! Then I added it was an impeachable offense to circumvent his oath to the Constitution and to its citizens!
'Impeachment Is Always a Possibility,' Says Top Senate Republican
Oopsie. And Jon Kyl has never been accused of being a severely conservative GOP Senator.
It don't get any better than that, eh?
The Dems control the Senate. Just like with Clinton, it doesn’t matter if the House votes to impeach — the Senate would not vote to convict if Obama killed and ate a baby on live network television.
I think that you are right. And I would add that Obama’s lack of natural Born Citizen status is another piece of bait that the Republican’s are refusing to grab. They know that he is unquaified but they also know that the media would rain down on them and force to American public to sit through tirades by Jesse jackson and Al Sharpton until their consciences exploded and they were overcome by guilt.
I think you are on to something, Deb. The uninformed masses believed Clinton was being bullied during impeachment, and just maybe Obama believes he can create the same kind of backlash and turn it into energized support.
P.S. It is good to see a post from you! I am not as active as I used to be in freerepublic.
And the Republicans would be crucified.
And the Republicans would be crucified.
Really? There’s a link to back up my brain? Wow!
I think you are exactly right. But there’s even more to it.
People respect, and in some cases will follow, a man who knows how to exercise power. People do not respect, and will not follow, pussies.
Obama (or his handlers) know the Republicans are pussies, and know also that punching them in the mouth carries no risk, because, unlike 1974 when Republicans turned on Nixon, there are no Democrats who will split with Obama and raise a (true) threat of removal.
With removal off the table, impeachment is not a power gesture, it’s a gesture which shows just how pussified and powerless the Republicans are.
Because of this Obama can slap the Republicans and make them like it, and every time he does it his popularity will increase, and the GOP’s will decrease.
As if that wasn’t enough, unlike LBJ or Nixon, who were aware (sometimes dimly) of limits, Obama has contempt for limits set by dead white slaveowners, so there really is no practical limit to what he is capable of doing. With Harry Reid and his cohorts controlling the threat of removal and prepared to go all the way down the road to overthrow and communism, the political system is powerless to stop this.
The Republic is poised on a knife edge. I agree that impeachment by the House would be a huge negative. We have to hope for the election of the weakling Romney, and hope Obama isn’t prepared to go all in.
Did anyone hear him?
Please tell me that you are okay with at least impeaching Holder following the contempt vote? (yes, even if DOA in the Senate)
