Once the southern states participated in the election of 1860 [and didn’t secede before that election], they were bound by its result, whether they liked it or not.
Aaaaaannnndd the thing that the North didn’t (and probably still doesn’t) understand is that the Constitution is a contract that every state has the right to opt out of at any time. If we in GA tell the federal government tomorrow to leave, then it should pack its bags and go.
Well, the Constitution doesn’t set forth any such restrictions on secession, so I’d say that’s just your opinion.
So, what you are saying is that slavery WAS OK, as long as limited to Southerners who wanted to opt out of the Union.
Can’t have it both ways.
