California’s revised budget by any other name still is horrid

Over the weekend, we received an email complaining about something we must have written about Gov. Jerry Brown and his budgeting schenanigans. It came from someone who apparently has an iPhone and identifies himself as ”Jerry Brown.” Who knows? Any way, the writer’s complaint with this writer was thus: “Check out the massive budget reductions, government realignment, reorganization and solid pension reform. And don’t forget that the most affluent have taken 80% of the growth in income in recent years. And how about JP Morgan blowing $2 billion after lobbying against regs that would have protected its shareholders. Balance and more accurate reporting is needed here.” OK. To which your faithful blogger, columnist and editorial writer (not knowing of which capacity the emailer complained) responded: . . .

Have they cut the free stuff for Illegals yet? No? Well, then I predict an even bigger deficit next year. Eventually, they’ll be three types of people in CA:

1. Illegals
2. State Workers & Politicians
3. Multi-millionaires who live on/near the beach

Pretty much what it’s coming down to. Awful. How can they be so blind, it’s incomprehensible to me.

They should change the name of the state to Cantaffordya, (meaning illegals).

Their foolishness with fiscal policy has brought them to only one alternative and THIS alternative will be media driven until it is fulfilled.

56 other states will foot the bill for California's fiscal carelessness and all will be force fed the absolute necessity for this mega bailout. And if given the opportunity, Mitt Romney will be an integral part of making it happen.

The funniest thing about all of this is how much of the ‘top 20%’ are government employees, and the entire reason behind these massive budget deficits. They steal the public’s money to put into their own pockets, feel guilty, so steal more of the public’s money to put into other people's pockets, while raising their own take, since, well, they're doing good, so feel less guilty.

And then they start to feel more guilty about stealing even more money, so they increase the number of people they steal for, and give the whole raising the amount of money they steal to a board, since that's ‘fair.’ Though they appoint everyone to that board, so wouldn't choose anyone who'd actually cut funds...

It's a long continued cycle, with courts in the pockets of the unions and politicians, and everyone getting grumpy that the public’s not ponying up more money for them to steal. The slightest traffic infraction can come with an $800 surcharge for ‘court fees.’ People get bills from emergency services - you know, those people they already pay for and buy all their toys for?

And services are slashed and burned - DMV offices closed, police requiring online filing of crime reports (too much trouble to actually send a police officer... Besides, they're busy writing more tickets...)

If there is a shift towards Republicans within the State,it will be most likely centrist types or others unwilling to make the strong changes the State needs.

They would just set themselves to be voted out again.

Crunching # that big is always tough but if you’re paying this much for civil servants,at least they could tell us ahead of time how bad it is going to be.Unless they spend their days lying to themselves.

As for the illegals....I feel sorry for the hospitals in Cali.
