It’s incredible, isn’t it? There’s a real argument to be made that the entirety of modern journalism over the last century is a complete sham.

There’s been plenty of poking fun at journalism in recent years, and plenty of real serious work seeking to counter what modern journalists do to advance progressivism, but this right here is the foundation. This where it all started, with this guy, Lippmann. It’s a house built on sand.

Except that prior to the 20th century ALL journalists were opinion editors. We know that modern journalists utterly fail in their supposed quest for objectivity. But prior to modern journalism there was not even a suggestion of objectivity. Each side simply printed their own opinions. We are returning to the old gold standard where the only way for either side to get more viewers (iow money) is to go more shill. MSNBC is not going to get any conservative viewers so the only way to grow market is to go more shill and shore up more libs. Fox is being branded more and more conservative and would likely not add many viewers with a new “Alan Colmbs” show. Objective journalism might be nice but a lot of myths are born of wishful thinking.
