VANITY: I volunteered to help with the data entry for the New York primary this past Tueday. WOW! I should mention that I actually work for my local county in IT (a job I got almost two years ago; up to then I worked primarily in the private sector.)

VANITY: I volunteered to help with the data entry for the New York primary this past Tueday. WOW! I should mention that I actually work for my local county in IT (a job I got almost two years ago; up to then I worked primarily in the private sector.)

The head of the BOE is a SCREAMING UBER liberal woman close to retirement. Apparently she is married to a conservative man (poor fellow).

She was mentioning that this general election, she'll probably get a divorce if "the anti-christ gets in" (meaning of course anyone but Obama) She has a "obama/biden 2012" sticker on her car as well as the common "no fracking" bumper sticker seen in these parts of central NY.

I blurted out in front of mostly people of the liberal persuasion "Some of us think the anti-christ is already in office!"

OOOOOOHHHHHH! Was the response from the crowd!

I do know that my new manager's boss, a young guy from the private sector is definitely a pubbie and conservative. He thought the whole episode was funny.

I definitely was taken aback at the potential for tampering and human error. The scanner type voting machines results are conveyed over the phone or dropped off and then entered in by hand into a computer program. I was thinking that with so many uber libs on the BOE and the fact that they are in LOVE with Obama (including my manager) they would do ANYTHING to "help" Obummer win. It was EXTREMELY scary!

BTW these are the same people who messed up my son's absentee ballot and therefore he wasn't able to vote in the past primary. AHEM!

i work with a bunch of these libtards too- it is amazing how they think the whole world shoud share their opinion

I had one guy who was so in love with trees I asked him if he had sex with them.

I told him i loved trees too and went on to explain the beautiful grain of the wood and the wonderful pieces of furniture I made with the black walnut’s I cut down in the back... I thought he was going to cry

I’ve had numerous, similar exchanges with libidiots....they always go the same way, so it got boring. They “emote” their drivel, I hit ‘em with facts and ask for a response....they stare, sputter, stammer, drool, piss themselves....then try to attack you personally (which, of course, I don’t allow). They are patently incapable of “thinking”.

As I said....it got boring. No sport in it.

Do you know if there are audit mechanisms that would detect manipulation of the data? In your entering of data was there ever anything that clued you in to a mistake that had been made? Did the precincts report their numbers to any other location so that the numbers you entered had to match the numbers sent to a different location?

Nope! Unless you accidentally put in so many numerical digits that the field would not be able to take it. And as far as I could see, no "double check" on the numbers. The numbers immediately posted up on the website and that was the end of that.

I didn’t know that the Board of Elections allowed anyone other than Liberal Democrats to participate in the polling process.

Something needs to be done about that. There has to be a way to audit the electronic records. At this point it’s basically a race to see who is willing to enter the most fraudulent votes. What shows up in the results could have absolutely nothing to do with what lever any of us pushes.

Something should be done about it. I could have EASILY switched the numbers for Mitt and Newt!!! (I personally voted for Newt in the primary)

Do they allow observers, to make sure there is some integrity?

Ultimately something needs to be done to require voting results to be audited with some real physical verification, but for this election we need to work with what we’ve got.

My mom used to work at the polling place here in rural Nebraska. They had to add up their results multiple times before sending anything in. But that’s with paper ballots. The electronic stuff is a whole different ballgame.

There were claims in 2000 that somebody in FL was commissioned to flip an electronic switch in the voting tabulation software so that the votes would go to Bush. If that ability exists, then both parties should recognize the need for a genuine audit to be done. I think maybe we need to go to paper ballots and indelible ink on the finger like they did in Afghanistan.

Before we get all paranoid over this, election numbers reported on board of elections website pretty much universally carry the disclaimer that they're unofficial, because they are.

The website is just a quick reporting tool to give the results of the election, but the official count of ballots is usually completed later and the official results are eventually posted. If there is a significant discrepancy, heads will turn, but that type of thing usually winds up being a data entry error (see the Wisconsin recall elections for a recent example).
